Description

This unit introduces the student to a variety of essential facts, principles and concepts from Animal and Plant Biology and Ecology, focusing on the following topics: 1. Biodiversity and evolutionary relationships between living organisms.2. Diversity, structure and function of plants (e.g. photosynthesis, nutrition, adaptation).3. Diversity, structure and function of animals (e.g. endo-therms and ecto-therms, circulation, nutrition, adaptation).4. Evolution and ecology (e.g. interactions, natural selection, extinction, conservation).The unit, in combination with Biology A provides students with the introductory subject knowledge and skills necessary for successful completion of an undergraduate degree programme.
